After successfully managing 99 basketball games over the course of 25 days (high school, college and NBA), the HallPass Media team has wrapped up a successful summer of basketball events.
HallPass’ final event of the summer was the 8th annual adidas Nations Global Experience, the top global grassroots basketball event of the year. Many of the top basketball players in the world have been a part of the adidas Nations program including Damian Lillard, Serge Ibaka, Derrick Rose, Jrue Holiday, Steven Adams and many more professional and Division I basketball players.
HallPass Media has been involved with adidas Nations for the past six years managing all on-site camp operations and developing digital content to cover the event. For the second year in a row, HallPass produced adidas Nations on Demand where select scouts, media and NBA personnel could view all 32 adidas Nations games on demand.
As part of the adidas Uprising lineup of events, the 2014 adidas Nations Global Experience brought together 160 of the world’s top 18u and college basketball players to train and compete in a high intensity environment designed to elevate the attendees games. The program culminated in a tournament at the Next Level Sports Complex in Garden Grove, CA in which 18u teams from the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Canada and Africa competed for the adidas Nations Championship. The Championship game and 3rd Place game was broadcast live on ESPNU.
The 2014 adidas Nations program also included an impressive lineup of speakers assembled to educate the young athletes on off-the-court matters and included speakers such as Tracy McGrady, Ric Bucher and Chad Buchanan.
This year Team Lillard 2016 coached by Ross Burns & Scott Garson defeated Team Wall 2016 106-78 to win the 2014 adidas Nations Championship. Team Lillard shot 51% from the field and 97% from the free throw line going 15-16. Team Lillard shared the ball well , scoring on 23 assists and played great team defense holding Team Wall to 34% from the field having 10 blocks and ripping 12 steals. Team Lillard played great team defense forcing 19 turnovers resulting in 31 points off of turnovers.
Team Lillard was led by Thon Maker with 18 points (6 for 6 from the field and also form the line) and 8 rebounds. Including Thon Maker, Team Lillard had five players with double digit scoring efforts (Mario Kegler 19 points and 3 rebounds, Eron Gordon 16 points and 4 rebounds, Dennis Smith, Jr. 16 points and 4 assists, and DeAaron Fox 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists).
