LAS VEGAS — NBA Summer League is on track for one of the most successful events in its history, with organizers reporting record-setting attendance, merchandise sales and fan engagement through the opening days of this year’s showcase.
Following Tuesday’s NBA Summer League press conference, longtime event executive Albert Hall, Summer League executive Warren LeGarie and local business leader Judy Siegel, whose family owns Piero’s Italian Cuisine and helps operate Pinkbox Doughnuts, discussed the event’s continued growth and the impact it is having throughout Southern Nevada.
“We were optimistic that the fans would come out and support Summer League and show they can support an NBA team,” Hall said. “We’ve seen it so far. The fans have stepped up, and the energy in the building has been very, very good.”
Hall said the excitement surrounding the event has continued to build after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s remarks about the league’s future in Las Vegas.
“The future looks a lot brighter after this press conference,” Hall said. “It looks really bright after just four days of Summer League.”
LeGarie said nearly every key performance indicator is ahead of previous years.
“The first four days were a record,” LeGarie said. “All the benchmarks are indicating that we’ll have a record year across attendance, merchandise sales, social engagement, activations and ancillary events.”
The event’s growth has extended well beyond Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion.
“All the hotels were sold out this weekend,” LeGarie said. “We literally tried to get rooms, and they were charging three times the normal amount—and you still couldn’t get one.”
According to LeGarie, the demand underscores Summer League’s expanding economic influence across Clark County.
“We’ve shown that Summer League doesn’t just bring in a weekend crowd,” he said. “The 11-day event makes a major financial impact in Clark County.”
Local businesses are experiencing those benefits firsthand.
