Ohio State Linebacker Ryan Shazier has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The 6-2, 230-pound senior led the Buckeyes with 16 tackles, including 3.5 for losses and forced a fumble in a 60-35 win over Illinois that kept the Buckeyes undefeated.
The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a donation of $1,000 to the general scholarship fund at Ohio State to recognize Shazier’s performance.
Shazier is one of nine semi-finalists for the annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, which will be presented Dec. 8 in Newport Beach, Ca. The Lott award is the only major college award based on character. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics and Tenacity.
“He plays fast and with great confidence that has allowed him to excel,” says Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer.
For the season, Shazier leads the team with 88 tackles, 14.5 tackles for losses and three forced fumbles.
