Kevin Garnett, Content Cartel, and VSL Team Up to Produce Inaugural Summer League Film Festival
This summer, the NBA Summer League added a new chapter to its legacy with the first-ever Summer League Film Festival, held from July 18-20, 2024, at the Strip View Pavilion in the Thomas & Mack Center. Combining the energy of basketball with the artistry of filmmaking, the festival brought fans, players, and creatives together to celebrate the cultural and global impact of the game.
Hosted by Matt Winer, the festival was spearheaded by the visionary collaboration between Kevin Garnett, Content Cartel, and VSL Properties. Attendees were treated to five standout projects that explored the essence of basketball through untold stories, emotional journeys, and historical milestones:
- 20 Years of Summer League in Vegas
- 50ForDaCity – Zach Randolph Documentary
- Tony Allen: The Grindfather
- Marc Gasol: Memphis Made
- The Spoils: Selling the Future of American Basketball
Kevin Garnett, in his opening message, shared his excitement for the event:
“Basketball has always been more than a game—it’s a story, a journey, and a way to connect people worldwide. This festival is about bringing those stories to life in a way we’ve never done before.”
The festival gave participants a chance to step away from the courts and experience basketball’s cultural impact in a whole new way. It was an unforgettable weekend blending passion for hoops with cinematic creativity.
