Florida State defensive back Lamarcus Joyner has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week. The 5-8, 190-pound senior from Ft. Lauderdale was a one-man wrecking crew against Clemson in a huge ACC showdown Saturday night.

Joyner forced two fumbles, the first leading directly to a touchdown, intercepted a pass, recorded one sack and eight total tackles in the impressive 51-14 win that kept the Seminoles undefeated at 6-0.

Myron Rolle, a Lott IMPACT Trophy finalist in 2008 after his superb career at Florida State, is a friend of Joyner’s and works out with him frequently.  “He’s a remarkable young man,” says Rolle, who was a Rhodes scholar.  “He handles himself with honor and esteem.  He’s also a natural leader, a role he embraces.  You often see him leading players in extra weight training sessions.  He’s great.”

“While obviously undersized, Joyner doesn’t shirk from contact. He welcomes it, in fact, and possesses excellent diagnosis skills, as well as the balance, agility and speed to handle coverage duties,” writes Rob Rang of CBS Sports.com.

Quarter-finalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced Oct. 23.
