The HallPass Team recently returned from the inaugural NBA Global Camp, which took place at the La Ghirada Sports Complex in Treviso, Italy. The camp showcased 40 of the top Draft-eligible international prospects coached by current NBA coaches, as well as featured a series of scrimmages between prospects from the NBA Academy program, Australia’s Centre of Excellence and a U18 International Select Team.

Responsibilities for HallPass included fully developing nbaglobalcamp.com, running event operations, producing the official livestream broadcast, and more. The live stream broadcast featured ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla and Atlanta Hawks Assistant GM Wes Wilcox, who were joined by special guests such as Croatian draft prospect Dzanan Musa, NBA Team Executives and many others.

The live stream broadcast was distributed by the NBA’s official Facebook page and has tallied up more than 1.4 million views to date. In addition, one of the top plays of the weekend was featured on the number 5 spot of ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays on Saturday featuring an electrifying dunk by Brazilian SF Gabriel Galvanini.

The camp itself included a total of 10 games, team practices, shooting drills, strength & agility testing, medical testing, and interviews sessions with teams. All games were officiated by G-League referees, which served as their own practice and training sessions.
The camp consisted of 8 teams:

  • 4 NBA Global Camp Teams coached by NBA Assistant Coaches
    • Team 1 – led by Dan Burke (Indiana Pacers), Chris Fleming (Brooklyn Nets)
    • Team 2 – led by Dan Craig (Miami Heat), Rex Kalamian (Toronto Raptors)
    • Team 3 – led by Melvin Hunt (Atlanta Hawks), Brendan O’Connor (L.A. Clippers)
    • Team 4 – led by Vin Bhavnani (Oklahoma City Thunder), Mark Madsen (L.A.Lakers)
  • 2 NBA Academy Teams
  • International Select Team – coached by Sergio Scariolo (Spanish National Team Head Coach)
  • Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence

There was tough competition all around from the likes of Issuf Sanon (Global Camp Team 4), Josh Green (NBA Academy #2), Matur Maker (Global Camp Team 1), Arturs Zagars (International Select), Adam Mokoka (Global Camp Team 2), Killian Hayes (International Select) and Theo Maledon (International Select). All of the young players showed up and showcased their potential to be promising players in their future careers.

The inaugural NBA Global Camp was a huge success and the HallPass team is very excited about how all phases of the camp turned out.
