HallPass Media is back into the mix of grassroots basketball with the AlwaysLive basketball tour. Following our announcement and digital initiatives, the HallPass team jumped back into operations mode with three AlwaysLive tour stops on the east coast: NYBL Session 1, LOCI Icebreaker Invitational and Southern Jam.

AlwaysLive NYBL Session 1 (March 15-17)

HallPass made its debut appearance of the year at the AlwaysLive NYBL Session 1 out in Greensboro, NC. In a new scene and newer environment, we were able to witness some of the top 7th & 8th grade teams compete. Featured games saw Under Armour Association’s Team Breakdown take on Nike EYBL’s Team CP3 in an intense battle in what we would call the “game of the weekend!” It was a great matchup to further paint the AlwaysLive picture as a shoe agnostic tour where everyone has a fair shot to compete.

During NYBL Session 1, we were able to help bring more attention to the AlwaysLive brand. As done with events in the past, we branded 9 courts between 2 facilities (Greensboro Sportsplex & Greensboro Day School) with numerous AlwaysLive banners & chairbacks, a step & repeat for interviews and photo opportunities, a Player Profiles sign up booth and the installation of digital signage filled with AlwaysLive & NYBL content.

From a digital standpoint, we developed a game plan to gain coverage of the event through video and photo. Outside of the HallPass team, we brought on a photographer, sideline reporter and extra video shooters to capture the essence of the events along with exclusive content. Video coverage included interviews with coaches and top players such as Team Breakdown’s twin Bewley Brothers, daily highlight mixtapes and a daily recap breakdown.

All coverage was distributed throughout AlwaysLive social channels and through a team toolkit.

HallPass developed an online team toolkit that would include organized photos and videos to be distributed to all the teams. Social channels started to see a rise in traffic and garnered attention and engagement from players, teams and parents.

The first event of the season allowed us to identify what worked and what could be improved, but nonetheless we were able to pull through and make our presence felt.

AlwaysLive LOCI Icebreaker Invitational (March 29-31)

HallPass’s momentum picked back up a couple weeks after when we traveled to the AlwaysLive LOCI Icebreaker Invitational at Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta, SC.

With a similar approach, HallPass was able to turn it up another notch with additional features, a more detailed strategic plan and a bigger crew. HallPass’s AlwaysLive crew consisted of the following:

  • Livestream Director • 3 Play Operator • Cameramen (x3) • Sideline Reporter
  • On- Air Talent (x2) • ENG Camera Operator • Lead Editor • Assistant Editor
  • Media/Content Manager • Social Media Manager • Graphic Designer • Photographers (x2)
  • Quality Control Support (x2)

As done with the NYBL Session 1, we installed AlwaysLive banners throughout the facility’s 6 courts, produced a custom AlwaysLive three point line, created backboard signs and installed digital signage throughout the venue. We dedicated one court as our main court designed for the first ever AlwaysLive livestream broadcast.

Hosted on the AlwaysLive Youtube channel, the livestream broadcast saw 20+ hours of 16 games featuring some of the top 17U & 16U teams competing. Our own Jimmy Cook was calling all 16 games and was joined by special guest and NBA’s finest Beau Estes, who gave his insights on the matchups. The broadcast also featured post-game interviews from some of the top players like Georgia Stars’ Frank Anselem and Atlanta Playmakers’s Caleb Murhpy.

Outside of the broadcast, we had a team of photographers and videographers capturing content throughout the event to share on the AlwaysLive social media channels. Custom graphics were designed to promote the livestream while we had photos and videos to share of the ongoing action. Videos consisted of daily highlights, game recaps, post-game interviews from top teams and players with our sideline reporter and an overall event recap:

All content was then again distributed to teams through the AlwaysLive Team Toolkits where we shared team photos with 49 teams and videos with 36 teams.

One of the top highlights included a monstrous dunk from Team Wall’s Chase Forte which gained the attention and engagement from the Overtime Twitter channel.

With the channels continuing to rise in traffic, HallPass also initiated an AlwaysLive Enter-To-Win sweepstakes, seeing a significant spike in follower growth across Twitter, Instagram and Youtube!

In addition, Hallpass was able to coordinate with another ongoing AlwaysLive event in Las Vegas: Vegas Elite Invitational where we provided branded signage and shared their content through AlwaysLive social media.

AlwaysLive Southern Jam (April 13-14)

Hallpass continued its efforts to Jacksonville, FL  covering our first all girls tournament at the AlwaysLive Southern Jam. The tournament featured the top 115 11U-17U girls teams from the South including teams who play in the Nike EYBL, adidas Gauntlet Series and Under Armour Association tours.

As with the previous two stops, HallPass assisted the PASS team (Southern Jam event operators) with in-arena signage, digital signage setup, event operations, staffing and social media coverage. Staffing for the event included a video team (shooter and editor) and photographer to help capture content that would be shared through social media. Video highlights and photos were all distributed to teams to share on their own channels.

More To Come

Aside from helping setup events, capturing content and managing social media channels, HallPass has also worked on the launch of a newly developed AlwaysLive website where we will be sharing more news stories, videos and other integrations for teams and parents to have easier access to.

This is just the start of what’s come. As we continue to grow the AlwaysLive brand, we’ll be able to learn more about what this property is capable of.
